About

A simple online notepad. That's the whole thing.

NotepadMe is a free, fast, distraction-free online notepad for jotting down whatever you need to remember — to-do lists, meeting notes, journal entries, ideas, code snippets, anything. Open the page, start typing, find it later. No accounts required, no ads, no AI training on your data.

What you can use it for

  • Quick thoughts — capture an idea before it slips away
  • To-do lists — daily tasks, shopping, packing
  • Meeting notes — agendas, decisions, action items
  • Journal entries — daily reflections or a long-form diary
  • Code snippets — useful commands, shell one-liners, config blocks
  • Recipe drafts, travel plans, research notes, study notes — whatever you'd otherwise lose

How it works

  1. Open NotepadMe. The editor is ready the moment the page loads. No setup, no onboarding, no popup tour.
  2. Type. Your note auto-saves as you write. Add tags to organize, pick a color, or pin important notes to the top.
  3. Find it later. Search across all your notes by keyword or tag. Everything you wrote is one search away.

Why NotepadMe

Free forever, no catches

No premium tier hiding the useful features. No "free for the first 100 notes." No upgrade nags. Just a working notepad on the open web.

Built for speed, not for engagement

NotepadMe doesn't try to keep you on the page. There's nothing to scroll, no feed to refresh, no notifications. Write what you need and close the tab.

Your data stays yours

We never sell your notes, never train AI on them, never share them with advertisers. There's no analytics or tracking on the writing surface itself.

Works on any device

NotepadMe runs in any modern browser — laptop, phone, tablet, Linux, Mac, Windows. Sign up free to sync across all of them.

Frequently asked questions

Is NotepadMe really free?

Yes. There is no paid plan, no premium features, no trial that expires. NotepadMe is a hobby project shared with the internet.

Do I need an account to use it?

No. You can start writing immediately as a guest, and your note is saved to your browser. To write multiple notes, organize with tags across sessions, or sync across devices, you'll need a free account.

Where are my notes stored?

Guest notes live in your browser's local storage only. If you create an account, your notes are stored on the NotepadMe server. They are never shared, sold, or used to train AI models.

Can I use NotepadMe on mobile?

Yes. NotepadMe runs in any mobile browser. There's no native app to install — just bookmark the page. The editor is touch-friendly and works on phones, tablets, and any keyboard-equipped device.

How do I delete my account?

Open your profile menu and choose "Profile." Account deletion options are available there. When you delete your account, every note you've ever written is permanently removed from the database.

Can I export my notes?

Export functionality is on the roadmap. For now, you can copy any note's content directly out of the editor. If you need a bulk export urgently, email us and we'll help.

Does NotepadMe support Markdown?

Not yet. The editor is a rich-text WYSIWYG editor with formatting buttons (bold, italic, headings, lists, code, blockquote). Markdown shortcuts are something we may add — let us know if you'd find them useful.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Email hello@notepadme.com. We read everything, even if we don't always reply. Bug reports with screenshots and reproduction steps get fixed fastest.
